secret garden

{dress} Betsey Johnson {model} Chelsey Cole

It is after dark and she appears beside the fountain. The garden is cloaked in darkness but the girl shines bright, smiling wistfully as if recalling a joyous moment too soon past. She walks amidst the remnants of the night, hiding from the daybreak as it tries to erase yesterday. Who is she and what is that happy memory?

taking flight

{trench coat} Forever 21 {sheer striped blouse} Le Fou by Wilfred {skinny jeans} Ksubi {pewter buckle flats} Burberry

Do you remember the first time you were on a plane? I can't, but I do remember being a goofy little kid and taking a plane to see my relatives. I thought it would make the trip so much more exciting if I were to travel wearing a beret and carrying a baguette. So when I landed at the airport and met my relatives I could say "bonjour!" pretending that I had just gotten off a plane from Paris instead of gloomy ol' Seattle. Much more glamorous, right? Well, being the goof that I am, I went through with this supposedly genius idea and managed to convince my Dad to take me to the grocery store to get a baguette. I remember getting on the plane and being halfway to my seat when a gentleman stopped me. "Miss," he said, sounding quite confused, "you dropped your, errr...bread." I turned around and in his outstretched hand was half of my baguette! It had gotten stale and broken in two. How embarrassing! That was the first and last time I travelled with bread. I was such a strange kid.

Loeffler Randall Matilde Boots

{nautical striped sweater} Demy Lee from Intermix {boots} Loeffler Randall Matilde {skirt} American Apparel {trench coat} H&M {sunnies} Luella

For a long time, these Loeffler Randall Matilde boots were on the top of my "want, need, gotta have!" list. In an extraordinary stroke of fate, one rainy day I wandered into my favorite second-hand shop in Santa Monica, The Wasteland on the Promenade. I was walking towards the shoe section when I spotted them on the tippy top shelf. My walk broke into a run, and all I could think was they had to be the wrong size, how could I get so lucky? Upon closer inspection they were my size, and they were perfect! And at a fraction of the original cost! I think I was jumping for joy in the middle of the shop. Yippee!
