retro pool party

{retro pink leopard halter maillot} Marc by Marc Jaobs {retro petals swim cap} Headcovers Unlimited

My amazing friend Mesha founded a troupe of retro synchronized swimmers. A while back I had the pleasure of watching their show at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel poolside bar, and it was so much fun! Ever since I've been inspired by vintage swim silhouettes, like this Marc by Marc Jacobs halter maillot. Pairing it with this vintage-inspired petal swim cap I feel like I just hopped into a pool in the swimming 60's!

Black Milk Clothing: Star Wars Swimsuits

Black Milk Clothing started in a Brisbane kitchen three years ago as a hobby fashion line. Designer James Lillis, the mastermind behind the label says, "it was all about turning geek culture sexy." Not long after, their Star Wars swimsuits gained an international cult following of epic proportions. Now with official Lucasfilm licensing the swim- suits are back in production! Dress as R2D2 or C3PO and sun in the sand on your own private Tatooine or hit the Gold Beaches of Corellia in style. Methinks the Artoo maillot would look great as a top under some high-waisted cut-off denim shorts. See more about Black Milk here.

BLACK MILK SWIM: playing video games

{fig. 1} Black Milk Tetris swimsuit {fig. 2} Black Milk Pacman and Gameboy swimsuits, images from BlackMilkClothing

Anytime I see Tetris my thumbs ache in muscle memory of the near addictive hours on end I spent as an adolescent playing it on my Gameboy. The addiction returns at the sight of these sweet maillots from Black Milk Clothing. Digital prints on one-piece swimsuits have been all the rage ever since We Are Handsome debuted those cheeky suits featuring actual images of LA sunsets, palm trees, and roaring panthers. Black Milk provides a lil' somethin' somethin' for those of us who love a good video or arcade game with their Tetris, Pacman, and Gameboy printed suits. So the next time you're at the pool don one of these babies and exercise your right to geek chic, and don't forget your Gameboy, er...3DS. Also, check out Black Milk Clothing here for more amazing digital print suits (those astronaut and galaxy print suits are calling my name!) There's never been a better time to make like Lana Del Rey and "go play a video game..."
