the TREND: Black Shearling

Who doesn't like a warm fuzzy? Especially in the form of a spectacularly draped shearling beauty who hugs you in all the right places. The shearling jacket has come incredibly far from its roots as a strictly utilitarian piece. You know those fantastic leather flight jackets all over the Burberry Prorsum runway right now? The original was designed in 1919 to keep pilots warm and toasty in open cockpit planes during the first and second world wars. The modern versions captured so perfectly in these street style photos are my favorite look this winter. The perfect combo of edge and insouciance, a look that is oh so New York City and oh so cozy.
