Visiting Vancouver

It's easy to escape Seattle. Just point yourself north and drive until the highway narrows and the evergreens get taller. Next stop Canada. Trips to Vancouver always remind me of my childhood. It was a favorite, and somewhat lazy family road trip. There were always stops at Dr. Sun Yat Sen's Chinese garden, Science World's strange Epcot-like dome, shopping at the Metropolis at Metrotown, and trying to find the white rock at White Rock. Not to mention wildly fabulous notions like getting pizza at McDonalds and poutine (fries topped with gravy and cheese curds, yum!) at Burger King. After all road trips and fast food go hand in hand. On this particular trip there were quite a few orders of poutine, as well as traveling off the beaten-path to Granville Island. My new favorite nook in the city.

Vancouver is also home to Aritzia, my all time favorite retailer. This chain is easily Canada's best kept secret. So I couldn't help taking photographs of their shop windows. Granted Seattle is lucky enough to have our own Aritzia, but there was something a little extra special about shopping at the Canadian store.
